A new blog looks back on 2008: Part 5

Monica works at the Bryn Athyn cathedral, and is basically the day-of hero to every bride that gets married there. I've shot countless weddings where she spends the day running back and fourth, going far and beyond her call of duty, in order to make each day special and stress-free for every couple.

FINALLY, I got to photographer HER day in the white dress (too bad there aren't doubles of her so she could have her own day-of-hero).

Although the wedding took place in the middle of the hottest summer on the east coast (we're talking 98% humidity and about 101F), and was an outdoor event, we still managed to have fun running all over town all day, stopping wherever we felt inspired to (including the local carnival!), drenched in our own sweat with smiles on our faces!

For the special music before the ceremony, Kieth (brother to Brent of Brit & Brent!) completely surprised her with a song (which he performed AND sang in front of everyone) on his banjo!

For their first dance, these two creatives had a big group of family and friends (note the brides grandfather playing guitar) sing them their first song. Wow.

These two were one of the most relaxed, in love couple's I've ever photographed. Their ceremony reflected their personalities "to a T". A perfect, open-hearted, welcoming ceremony that balanced the traditions of Catholicism and Jewdaism perfectly.
















This guy easily wins my favorite character award this year!

Guest favors were these great little tubes with a message from the couple inside wrapped around a (Colorado Fern?) tree. Giving guests the gift of green? Perfect!


There have been some really amazing wedding cakes this year, but Nicole and Jeff's cupcake tower (created by Jimmy Duffy & Sons catering - www.jimmyduffy.com) really sits high on my list right now. Fun to shoot, easy for the kids, and yummy for the bellies!



The kids table settings had tin lunch pales with fun goodies and little bowls with live gold fish!

The smells of burning leaves and pumpkin pies are already starting to pass and November is rearing it's electoral head in promises of all sorts of change.
Where has this year gone?!

I hope these images can relay even a sliver of the stories and amazing moments that the past year of great weddings and shoots has brought. By the way - if your wedding isn't in here, it's not because I don't love you! It's because I'm back and fourth between building albums and trying to FINALLY write something here, and don't have time to get to them all!

I finally got http://www.mkingphoto.com updated, and already it seems I have a years worth of stuff that needs to go up! Not to mention, my second website (boasting a rich blend of rock with a smooth hint of roll) hasn't even made it's REAL debut yet. I promise I'll be working on it now that busy season is calming down!

My first wedding of the year was a relative of mine Kristin (and her husband Joseph), as well as the sister of the groom from the famous "DID THEY REALLY GO UNDER WATER?!" wedding (see it on the site: http://www.mkingphoto.com ) Apparently she takes after his free-spirited "lets-just-have-fun" ways as well. Although there was no soaking in salt water here, this wedding was gorgeous, and certainly one for the books (what with their super-cool grilled cheese cake created by none other than Cakes by Frank-John):
